MISH MASH 2021
What a weekend!! A magnificent mish mash marathon over two days saw Darlington Market Square full to the brim with people letting go of lockdown at last and embracing a remarkable return to summer festival vibes.
Over 8000 of you came down to check out the amazing performances we had the pleasure of hosting on the main stage, not to mention have a bite to eat from one of the many amazing food & drinks stalls on site, or perhaps even tried something new at any of our interactive street workshops.
Every artist from beginning to end brought so much energy to the stage, and made for a non-stop party all weekend long, with families and friends of all ages coming together to experience the atmosphere, discover some new music, and dance the days away.
With genres from all over the world - everything from flamenco to folk, roots to rap - there was something for everyone, and it got people dancing to styles of music they might never have expected. The quality of musicianship was mind blowing, especially the exceptional talent from our own region here in the North East.
We wanna say a huge thanks to our stunning selection of performers:
ETHR, Cortney Dixon, Moon Wax, The Skapones, Los Capitanes, Weekend Sun, Bubamara, The Dead Seat, Groove Nite, Biscuithead and The Biscuit Badgers, Blackbeard's Tea Party & K.O.G & The Zongo Brigade
...to the leaders of our interactive workshops: Wreckheads Krew (Breakdance), Oona La Luna (Bellydance), Claire Willmer (Singing & Body Percussion)
...to the lovely ladies at Big Little Gigs for keeping it crafty all weekend; all the wonderful food & drinks traders who filled our bellies with favours, to all of the brilliant events and technical staff for helping us run the event, to Darlington Borough Council and Tees Valley Combined Authority for making it all possible, and of course to all you class people who came down and had a good time.
Here's a couple of shots of the action snapped by our own Rob Irish to give you a flavour, with a full gallery to follow on socials.
Image Descriptions: A gallery of images showing off a selection of the amazing artists performing on stage at the festival - there is smoke and stage lights, singers and saxophonists, a bellydancer and a bird man, folk artists in fezzes and a fox with a tuba, and a crowded market square full of wonderful people taking it all in.
