HARK! The Sound of Stories is back for a Spring awakening!

Presenting music inspired by poetry and stories, HARK! introduces artists with readings from the words behind the pieces.

Get ready to be transported as singer-songwriters Amelia Coburn and Emma Robson weave tales through their original music. Held in the beautiful surrounds of Darlington Library, with refreshments available from Crafty Merlin's pop-up bar, Hark! is a special night that always captivates audiences - and thanks to our funders, this show is free to attend!

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

AMELIA COBURN

Fresh from playing SXSW in the US, Amelia Coburn brings us an intimate solo show of music from her critically acclaimed album Between the Moon and the Milkman, described by Shindig! magazine as ‘songs that feel like centuries old fairy tales’. Inspired by the darker works of Angela Carter, Ray Bradbury, Edgar Allan Poe, Mikhail Bulgacov and more.
A finalist in the Young Folk Artist of the Year Awards, and recipient of the Tees Valley Artist of the Year Amelia's crystal -cut vocal delivery and distinctive original music is described as 'darkness and light', and has made fans of DJs across the BBC radio channels, including Mark Radcliffe and Tom Robinson, as well as musicians such as Paul Weller and Paul Heaton.

Amelia's set will be introduced with a reading of DYLAN THOMAS’s ‘Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night’

EMMA ROBSON

With her lush, acoustic storytelling, Emma Robson has built her songwriting on a foundation of books and folk music: think Joni Mitchell inspired by Hemingway’s Old Man and the Sea, and Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women. With regular airplay on BBC Music Introducing, Emma is one to watch!

Emma's set will be introduced by a reading of ROBERT FROST’s ‘Nothing Gold Can Stay’

Doors at 7.30pm, show begins 8pm.

FREE TO ATTEND - but seating is limited, so please book a ticket to assure your place!
