NOISY DAUGHTERS

Women and gender minorities are underrepresented in the music industry. We don’t see enough of them on stages or in studios; Noisy Daughters is our initiative to help redress that imbalance.

Equality is in the ethos of everything we do - we believe it should be a natural part of programming and employment, but for this to be the standard, action must be taken to encourage more women and gender minorities into the industry.

Let’s make some noise!

We organise events with women and gender minorities front and centre - we want to highlight amazing role models in the industry, and provide experience and opportunities to encourage others to follow in their footsteps.

We run free workshops & networking sessions in songwriting, production, sound engineering, promotion & more, offering advice and inspiration from industry leaders in a safe and supported space.

We’re also frequently invited to programme Noisy Daughters stages at festivals (like Stockton Calling) - artists have included Liz Lawrence, The Mysterines, Loose Articles, Me Lost Me, Kay Greyson, ELLUR, Komparrison and Martha Hill.

“Representation of women and gender minorities in the music industry remains very low in all European countries. Across the participating countries’ collecting societies, women represent 20% or less of registered composers and songwriters. Earnings for women are even lower and women and gender minorities are underrepresented in leadership roles across the industry and on stages at festival programmes.” Keychange

We’ve joined 500+ other organisations in signing the Keychange pledge offered by PRS for Music, working together towards a representative music industry.
