Hark! Halloween

HARK! brings you live music inspired by classic horror novels, hauntings, folktales and histories - with the readings from the stories that inspired the music

This Halloween join us for a spooky spectacular featuring music from some of the North East's finest up-and-coming artists, inspired by Bram Stoker's Dracula, and a range of other haunting stories, including songs of drowned sailors, Black Shuck and other dark folk tales, all taking place in the cosy, candlelit Hash Bar.

MARTHA HILL presents songs from her original show DRACULA THE MUSIC (as well as some of her best hits). Expect the sublime to the ridiculous as Martha gives a special solo show of a selection of songs from her masterpiece-in-progress, a fabulous and freaky tale told with tongue firmly in cheek. With a reading from Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Ethereal songs and sounds from ANNA HUGHES. Goosebumps guaranteed as Black Shuck, a flying ship, drowned sailors and more come to haunting life in original music from one of the north east's rising stars in music and sound design. With a reading of Black Shuck by Isabel Hughes, read by local author Lisette Auton.

And folk tales from PEG POWLER. Named for the spirit of the Tees, this folk-blues quartet will bring a beat to things that go bump in the night with their selection of original material, trad folk and blues storytelling songs. With the story of Peg Powler, read by local writer Sara Dennis.
